Mirror of Creation has been a program of Art-Expression Workshops specified for women* of migration backgrounds based in Berlin with the aim of expressing, self-reflecting and free connectivity through the medium of art. The aim is to create a creative, fun & safe space in which women meet to challenge social and personal suppressions and put away expectations to create art together. They share their thoughts and experiences in a visual and verbal format within their group.

All exercises relate to community and trust-building and getting out of the comfort zones in order to understand oneself better.

Funded by Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung between the years 2018 and 2022, Mirror of Creation was successfully realised in two formats:

Mirror of Creation Workshops & MOC LAB

With the aim of facilitating women* with knowledge and materials and continuity, Mirror of Creation created a safe zone in which everyone could meet on an eye level. The workshops did not only offer a possibility to learn how to paint but also addressed topics, experiences and themes that would otherwise not be addressed; themes such as experiences in the past, challenges/qualities related to womanhood or being a female* migrant in Germany.
By discussing themes related to immigration/body/shame/fear/ home, etc. the group grew closer and a reliability was achieved that also wet beyond the frame of the workshops.
